Riley Loftus

Riley is an investor with Harpoon based in San Diego where he helps source, diligence, and support founders in the portfolio from companies in the pre-seed through growth stages. Riley has co-led investments into General Galactic, Aalo Atomics, and Electroflow. 

Prior to Harpoon, Riley was an investor at Marlin Equity Partners, a private equity firm with $3B assets under management, focused on software, healthcare, and industrial technology. While at Marlin, Riley drove financial analysis and due diligence on the investment team and was a board observer of Smartlinx and RevenueWell. 

Riley began his career at Financial Technology Partners, advising on financings, M&A, and public transactions across the fintech sector. During his time at the firm, Riley assisted in Porch’s $1B public offering, Cross River’s $620M Series D, Lendio’s Series E, Vesta’s sale to Goldfinch, TransNational Payments’ sale to Celero, and Veem’s Series C. 

Outside of Harpoon, Riley is an avid skier, surfer, and musician, having participated in all three activities since his youth. San Diego is a stone’s throw away from his home town of Manhattan Beach, so he spends a great deal of time in the South Bay and around the El Segundo area.
